Public Library Tour (pm)
06/05/2022 at 14:00 – 15:00
You are invited to join a free tour of the new Lambeth Palace Library building. Come and see some areas not usually open to the public, such as the eighth floor conference room and terrace (with its spectacular views) and our Conservation Studio. The tour will explain the history of the library and its collection, as well as our journey to a brand new, purpose-built home for the books and documents we care for.
There will also be an opportunity to view our current exhibition, featuring a range of materials from our collection. From Popish Plot to Civil Rights: Themes in Religious Archives highlights a range of subjects covered by the Library’s diverse collections of religious archives, including material relating the Queen’s coronation in 1953, Hebrew manuscripts, and material relating to the civil rights movement, and to the first British Black Bishop, Wilfred Wood.
These tours coincide with Lambeth Palace’s garden open days which support a different charity each month. For May we are supporting the Church Army.
Booking is essential as places are limited. Please note that tickets must be booked individually.
