Friends’ Annual Lecture & Annual General Meeting
24/06/2022 at 14:30 – 17:00
Lecture: In the Shadow of Death: The Life, Work and Trials of Archbishop Tait
Speaker: Revd John Witheridge
The lecture is at 2.30pm. The AGM is at 3.30pm and is followed by tea.
Archibald Campbell Tait was Queen Victoria’s favourite Archbishop of Canterbury. While not always successful, his leadership of the Church during a period of controversy at home and challenge overseas was bravely accomplished against a background of personal tragedy. John Witheridge has been Chaplain to Archbishop Runcie, Senior Chaplain at Eton and Headmaster of Charterhouse. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and a Chaplain to The Queen.
This meeting is open only to Friends of Lambeth Palace Library.
Please book in advance with Melissa Harrison, Lambeth Palace Library, archives@churchofengland.org or telephone 020 7898 1400, not later than Wednesday 15 June.
